March Coach's Corner

Well, another month is almost over and we have approximately four months of swimming left. Everyone is doing a fantastic job at practice improving their strokes and times.

HIGHLIGHTS
- Please remember to bring t-shirts to practice.

- On Tuesday, March 13th and Thursday, March 15th we will not be practicing at Glenforest as decided last year at the AGM because of the clarity of the pool water.

- 3rd Annual Mississauga Masters Intersquad Meet is approaching. The tentative date is Tuesday, April 3, 2007. Teams are being arranged along with the entry form for events.

- When swimming in a lanes, please be courteous to your fellow swimmers and swim down the right side towards the deep end and back the left side towards the shallow end unless you as a group in that lane decide otherwise. When finishing a set please move over to the side to allow your fellow swimmers to finish also. This makes for a better swimming environment.

- SHOWERS NEED TO BE TAKEN BEFORE ENTERING THE POOL. THIS IS A HEALTH REGULATION. THE GROUP BEFORE US HAS BEEN TAKING SHOWERS AND THEY HAVE BEEN NOTICING US NOT SHOWERING AND THEY FEEL THAT THEY DON'T HAVE TO SHOWER. IN ORDER TO KEEP THE CLARITY OF THE WATER CLEAR LIKE IT HAS BEEN EVERYONE MUST SHOWER BEFORE ENTERING THE POOL.

February 2007 Coach's Corner

Hello Everyone:

February is almost over and we only have four months of swimming left. Time is sure going by quickly, considering we started over four months ago. Anyway, everyone is doing an awesome job at practice, working very hard. Keep up the great work.

Two weeks ago the club participated at the Alderwood meet and we had exceptional results. Everyone who swam at the meet did a great job. Congratulations to everyone who swam at this meet for a job well done.

Over the next couple of weeks the club is participating at three meets:

Burlington this weekend. Good luck to everyone and even the coach who is going to swim 400 IM.

Three weeks later is Milton. Presently I have three individuals confirmed for the meet: Derrick H, Derek S and Jessie. Remember entries for Milton are due no later than February 8 because on Sunday I will be at Burlington.

Provincials are fast approaching. At present I have one entry form Derek S. I am going to extend the deadline to February 18, but no later as I need to mail entry form to Sudbury. Accommodations are at the Comfort Inn approximately ten minutes from the pool.

For those who expect to go to Provincials on Saturday night is a dinner/dance hosted by Lauretian Swim club. The price tag is $40.00. In my opinion, I think this is quite expensive, however those attending the meet need to make a decision on whether they will be going to this event.

REMINDERS

- Please bring a t-shirt.

- Please remember to shower before entering the pool as the water appears to be getting more murky and this is a health regulation.

-Please also try to show up on time as it become difficult to rearrange the lanes.

- Intersquad meet will be held in March. TBA

Hope to see everyone at practice soon.

January/Feb Update

Happy New Year to everyone:
I hope everyone had a great Christmas and New Year and is happy to be back at swimming. For the 2007 season we will be doing more timed sets with stroke improvement.
HIGHLIGHTS
Please remember to start bringing t-shirts to practice as we will be using them a lot more this season.
Please also remember to shower before entering the pool as this is a health regulation.
Practice times start at 8:30 pm and 7:45 am. Please try to show up on time. When you come in late (for whatever reason) it makes it more difficult for me to rearrange the lanes and also disrupts your fellows swimmers.

Meets
2nd Annual Mississauga Masters Intersquad meet. Detail of date, events and teams to follow.
Jan 21 - Alderwood and meet enter form attached and due back no later than Tuesday Jan 9.
Feb 11 - Burlington. Details to follow.
March 4 - Milton. Details to follow.
March 23 - 25 Provincials. Please start thinking if you want to attend Provincials this year in Sudbury at Lauretian University. I presently have 4 individuals going and have booked 12 rooms at a Comfort Inn in Sudbury.
Hope to see everyone soon.
